![]() And, it is a shame there is no DLC for the Wii version (as of yet) - as the OP has mentioned. It's much more enjoyable than just playing guitars. How is my post deviating from what the OP is discussing? So, lets make it clear I would recommend Rockband for the Wii. Quote:Originally posted by Harry_Greek:I DID mention I played GH3 for the Wii. Maybe you want to reword the post a bit - View image here:. However, the way its worded the more likely interpretation (at least to me and apparently one other person) is that you were recommending the 360 version of "Rock Band" because of DLC due your experience with it. ![]() Īfter reading your post and taking your reply in context, I now see you were actually recommending the Wii version and then seperately praising the value of DLC due to your experience with the 360. If GH3 doesn't penalize you in this way, couldn't you theoretically just hold down all the buttons while waggling the strum bar as fast as possible? If not, how is the gameplay different? I haven't decided yet if I should even bother, but if I do, I still want to know which is the better option.Question: jonah, when you say that GH3 is "button mashing," do you mean that you aren't penalized for playing superfluous notes? I know Rock Band works this way - you can't add extra flourishes to any of the beats, not even on drums (unless you're given one of those "free hit" notes, whatever those are called). Aside from the much lower cost, FOF gives me the option of playing this style of game without having to support crippleware. This is the reason I put Frets On Fire up there. I guess Rock Band is worse in this regard than GH3, but they're both bad versions. Again, they're both crippled compared to their full versions. In fact, this is almost a negative for Rock Band because I'd be paying for a feature that I won't use.4. Some of my friends might like it, but I am a terrible singer and I would rather sit out a round of Rock Band than try to sing along. The lack of DLC isn't a deal-breaker for me, otherwise I wouldn't even be considering either one.3. Supposedly there might be DLC for GH3 at some point, but I don't think that seems too likely. Neither one has it so I guess it's a moot point. I like the drumming feature but it's not that important, and the bass pedal makes my leg sore in no time flat.2. Let me break down how important the various features are to me.1. Is that a viable option at all? Or does it just suck hard? At least this option would allow me to play future Guitar Hero games on my Wii, should I choose to do that in the future. The lack of DLC hurts a bit, but neither game has it on the Wii (though Activision claims to be working on it for GH3).I guess another option would be to get a Wii guitar or two and just hook them up to my PC and play Frets On Fire instead. But I will probably only play the game to practice or when friends are over. If I skip the game, it'll be more out of principle (you shouldn't have to pay the same for a cut-down version). I don't know, though. The thing is, I am not sure the limited nature of Rock Band would really be that much of a problem for me. ![]() But apparently GH3 is pretty bad on the Wii too. So I thought, okay then, I'll get Guitar Hero 3 instead. I have a Wii and a PC, so the "good" versions aren't really an option (I'm not planning on getting a 360 or PS3, even though I'd like to, because they're just too expensive and I don't have a TV that could take advantage of them). We know that Rock Band for Wii, when it comes out, is going to be a cruddy rehash of the PS2 version. I've been thinking of getting one of these games ever since I played Rock Band at a friend's house on his 360. ![]()
